Miniature natural disasters

For pretty much as long as I can remember, I've been really fascinated with thinking of ways to simulate natural disasters with my Hot Wheels and/or any dolls my sister was willing to sacrifice. (I swear she was willing. No sarcasm there) Usually this meant just burning them, or creating tsunamis by dumping water near them. But then the Atlanta floods of 2009 happened. I should mention that my neighbors and I also had a semi-permanent miniature town in the woods, created for Hot Wheels by painstakingly carving out roads and lots on which to build our houses out of whatever materials we could find. We had carefully cut squares of moss laid out to give our buildings properly scaled lawns, and we even mowed them with scissors and a lot of patience. There were our three houses, at least ten miscellaneous buildings, a junkyard, and an intricate network of roads, some paved with carefully arranged rocks, others with fine gravel, and most left as hard-packed mud. It must have taken dozens of hours to build so perfectly. And, much like all of civilization, it was strategically placed with access to water; there was a creek about five feet from downtown, although our docks always washed away after a light rain. Still, the creek was maybe two feet below our town, and at least five below my house since I decided to live up on a cliff overlooking everything. Anyway, when the floods hit, none of our real houses were hurt, but our little 1/64-scale town was devastated. The creek rose up just about seven feet or so, taking away EVERYTHING except my house. Granted, it was destroyed completely and a lot of its foundation eroded away, but since the water only barely skimmed by it, we recovered one of my three cars and a few pieces of the house just a foot away from where they started. Some of my moss didn't even move at all. I found another of my cars and one of my youngest friend's at least 50 feet downstream, just barely poking out of the mud. The rest, probably 75 of them, were never found even after an hour with my metal detector.

All I could think about was how I missed all the action.

So, as I decided right this moment, I want to find another creek like that, only on private property this time. I want to build more towns, maybe using doll houses and larger cars this time. Only now, I want to set up some GoPros and record the whole thing every time. If only I had the money...
